Launch of Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin Talking Therapies service and single point of access

Accessing talking therapies is to become easier than ever before for people struggling with anxiety, depression or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin with the launch of a new streamlined service from 1 March.

Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin Talking Therapies brings together MPFT’s existing Talking Therapies teams in the county into a single, fully integrated service.

The service is open to anyone aged 16+ who is registered with a Shropshire or Telford and Wrekin GP, and is not currently being seen by another mental health team.

As part of the service launch, a new single point of access is being rolled out, enabling quick and easy access to the specialist team. From 1 March, the service can be contacted in the following ways:

  • Email: STWTT@mpft.nhs.uk
  • Phone: 0300 1236020 (NB: the patient’s details will be taken and a telephone assessment arranged)

A new service page is also being launched from 1 March via the MPFT website - www.mpft.nhs.uk/stwtt

Alongside providing details of the different ways the service can offer support, the web page also includes an online self-referral form. Should an individual not wish, or be unable to complete the online form, they can make a self-referral via the above telephone number.

When accessing the website, patients will also have the option to use the Limbic Referral Assistant, a friendly robot assistant (chat bot) that can help them self-refer to the service. The Limbic Referral Assistant will gather all the necessary information from the patient to enable the service to create a new referral for the patient, and offer the patient a range of options to book in for their initial assessment appointment.
