Keeping Shropshire Local, Understanding our Communities

Shropshire Council and partners are working to understand the needs of every local area in Shropshire. They recognise that Shropshire is made up of diverse communities, and not all health, wellbeing, community and personal needs will be the same.

Shropshire Council are collecting information to paint a picture about local use of health services, health and wellbeing, and the demographic and economic make up of our communities.

As part of this they want to understand what people tell them about what makes a good community, views of their health and wellbeing and that of their community; and what services and communities can do to make improvements.

They are doing this by putting together a survey (available online), by spending time in communities asking people, and they will host stakeholder events to bring people together to discuss what they have learned.

They plan to start this process across all of the Shropshire Council area, however they can’t do all areas at once, so the first three geographic communities they are focussing on are:

  • Whitchurch and surrounding area
  • Oswestry and surrounding area
  • St Martins

If you live in or near these communities, they would be very interested to hear from you.
