Nationally, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) found that some aspects of care have improved in the past year, but many maternity care experiences are less positive than they were 5 years ago.

Experiences covering all areas of antenatal care had improved from the 2022 survey. Mental health support also showed improvement during antenatal and postnatal care.

But they saw worsening results around availability of staff. People who had poor continuity of care also reported worse experiences during antenatal care, labour and birth and postnatal care.
